“The Bondi Beach Massacre and the Patterns of Hatred Australia Refuses to Name” - 15 December 2025

Twelve dead. Twenty-nine wounded. One Jewish celebration shattered by terror. And a nation that still won’t confront the scaffolding of white supremacy that made this massacre inevitable.

On the first night of Chanukah, December 14, 2025, at approximately 6:40pm Sydney time, two gunmen opened fire on over 1,000 Jewish families gathered for as revealed by RNZ Chanukah by the Sea at Bondi Beach. The killers, dressed in black and armed with hunting rifles, positioned themselves on the footbridge connecting Campbell Parade to the Bondi Pavilion and fired indiscriminately into the crowd for approximately ten minutes as documented by 1News and NZ Herald. When the carnage ended, twelve people lay dead—including one of the shooters—and twenty-nine others were wounded, among them two police officers and a child as confirmed by RNZ, 1News, and NZ Herald.

This was as reported by 1News Australia’s deadliest mass shooting since the Port Arthur massacre killed 35 people in 1996. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned it as as stated by ABC News

“an act of evil antisemitism, terrorism, that has struck the heart of our nation.”

NSW Premier Chris Minns declared the attack as revealed by RNZ

Yet even as blood pooled on the iconic beach, the Australian establishment deployed its familiar arsenal of obfuscation:

II. The Scaffolding of Slaughter: How Australia Built the Conditions for Bondi

The Bondi massacre did not emerge from a vacuum. It was the inevitable culmination of a deliberate campaign to normalize hatred of Jews.

Witnesses described as reported by 1News absolute pandemonium: “Pregnant women, women with kids, just everyone’s running.” Daniel, visiting from Brazil, saw as reported by 1News “A lot of people on the sand, on the ground, were trying to scream help... kids crying, looking for their mum.” A 17-year-old witness, who remained anonymous for safety, told The New York Times that the attackers “weren’t shooting at everyone”—they were specifically targeting Jews.

IV. The Hero: Ahmed AlAhmed and the Courage That Saved Lives

Amid the carnage, as reported by The Nightly Ahmed AlAhmed, a 43-year-old father of two, became a symbol of extraordinary bravery. Video footage, as documented by Reuters authenticated by Reuters, shows AlAhmed sprinting toward one of the armed gunmen, tackling him from behind, and wrestling the rifle from his grasp. In the process, as reported by The Nightly AlAhmed was shot twice by the second gunman positioned on the bridge—once in the shoulder and once in the hand.

NSW Premier Chris Minns called it as documented by Reuters “the most unbelievable scene I’ve ever witnessed”:

“A man approaching a gunman who had opened fire on the community and disarming him single-handedly, risking his own life to save many others. That individual is a true hero, and I have no doubt that numerous people are alive tonight because of his courage.”

“We have seen Australians today run towards danger, to help others. These Australians are heroes, and their bravery has undoubtedly saved lives.”

Hidden Connection #4: Ahmed AlAhmed, a Muslim-named Australian, risked his life to save Jews under fire. This fact exposes the lie that antisemitism and Islamophobia are symmetrical threats. While Australian politicians and media have spent years conflating criticism of Israel with support for terrorism, a Muslim man proved that solidarity transcends manufactured divisions. His courage is tikun olam—the repair of a broken world.

V. The Port Arthur Parallel and the Myth of Australian Gun Control

Australia’s gun control reforms, enacted after the as documented by Wikipedia 1996 Port Arthur massacre that killed 35 people, are held up globally as a model. Yet Bondi shatters that myth.

Cui bono? The Australian state, which can claim “we have gun control” while refusing to dismantle the systems of white supremacy and antisemitism that animated Port Arthur, Christchurch, and now Bondi.

VI. The Trans-Tasman Terror Network: Bondi Beach in the Shadow of Christchurch

When an Australian white supremacist massacres Muslims in Aotearoa, then another Australian targets Jews in Australia, the pattern is not coincidence—it is infrastructure.

The Bondi Beach massacre cannot be understood without acknowledging its whakapapa in white supremacist terror:

the as documented by Wikipedia Christchurch mosque shootings of March 15, 2019, perpetrated by 28-year-old Australian Brenton Tarrant, who murdered 51 Muslim worshippers at Al Noor Mosque and Linwood Islamic Centre during Friday prayers. Both attacks share a disturbing architecture of hatred. Both were committed by Australians. Both targeted religious minorities during sacred gatherings. Both were meticulously planned. Both were declared acts of terrorism. And both expose the deliberate failure of Australia and New Zealand to confront the white supremacist ecosystem that produces these killers.

The Christchurch Precedent: An Australian Export of Death

Brenton Tarrant grew up in Grafton, New South Wales, where according to Wikipedia he attended Grafton High School. After his arrest, as documented by Wikipedia, Tarrant told investigators he frequented right-wing discussion boards on 4chan and 8chan and found YouTube to be “a significant source of information and inspiration”.​

But Tarrant was not radicalized in a vacuum. The Contagion Effect: Bondi as Christchurch’s Heir

Tarrant’s attack as documented by research in Perspectives on Terrorism inspired a wave of copycat terrorism. Nine days after Christchurch, as documented by CTC Sentinel, John Earnest allegedly set fire to the Dar-ul-Arqam mosque in Escondido, California, scrawling graffiti reading “For Brenton Tarrant”. On April 27, 2019, Earnest allegedly entered Chabad of Poway Synagogue and opened fire, killing one and wounding three.​

On May 14, 2022, as documented by Wikipedia, white supremacist Payton Gendron killed ten Black people at a Tops Friendly Markets grocery store in Buffalo, New York, livestreaming the attack and publishing a manifesto stating he was inspired by Tarrant.​

The State’s Complicity: Refusing to Learn, Refusing to Name

New Zealand’s as documented by Royal Commission of Inquiry Royal Commission into the Christchurch attack concluded there was “no plausible way” the terrorist could have been detected other than chance.
